We’re walking in this event to meet the community of people affected by lung cancer, but if we raise a few dollars for research on top of that, that’s amazing. Anna here. My family is walking for my mum who
is living with Stage 4 lung cancer. Mum is an otherwise super healthy human. The only reason she found out about her cancer
was because she had a sore back.
Mum was diagnosed in August 2023 and this time last year, we were all really
uncertain of our future with mum. BUT the amazing doctors at Peter Mac got her
onto some incredible medicine that has drastically stopped the spread of
tumours in her body. The drug is still in trials, but we have learned of many
amazing stories of survival thanks to it.
Mum is living her normal life at the moment, working, gardening, walking everyday. I've got my best friend by my side because of the research that
the Lung Foundation has supported. And with lung cancer the most common cause
of all cancer-related death in Australia, the Foundation's research is really
important!
There are over 15,000 Australians living with lung cancer. It is Australia’s
most common cause of all cancer-related deaths. We don't hear about it as much
as other cancers, and it often goes undetected until it's late stages.
