I will walk with my lantern to...
Raise awareness for Lung Disease & Cancer
Did you know that 1 in 3 Australians will be impacted by lung disease in their lifetime?
In 2022, I was diagnosed with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) — a rare but potentially life-threatening condition. CTEPH occurs when blood clots in the lungs turn into scar tissue, blocking blood flow and causing dangerously high pressure in the pulmonary arteries. This can happen even if a patient is on blood thinners.
In July 2023, I was fortunate to undergo a Pulmonary Endarterectomy (PEA) surgery, which successfully removed around 90% of the scar tissue from my lungs. While I am grateful for this treatment, I am still living with the disease — and for me, raising awareness is vital.
CTEPH may be rare, affecting only about 4% of people who experience blood clots in the lungs, but its impact is profound. Sharing stories and shining a light on lung disease helps drive early detection, treatment, and support for those affected.
Let’s break the stigma, start the conversation, and support the millions living with lung disease and cancer every day.
