This page has been setup for those who wish to support the wonderful work of Lung Foundation Australia in loving memory of our wife and Mum, Andrea Gilbert.  

Andrea was diagnosed with stage 4 EFGR lung cancer in February 2021. She was 51 years old, fit and healthy. A loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend to so many. 

Throughout her fight, Andrea was a dedicated advocate for those living with the disease. She travelled to Canberra in 2022 and spoke bravely to Members of Parliament about her experience living with lung cancer. She believed strongly that the stigma associated with lung cancer has a direct impact on patient outcomes. The flow on effect of the systemic stigma is reflected in funding, research, publicity and support. It results in delayed diagnoses which takes the lives of people like our beautiful wife and Mum. 

Lung Foundation Australia have worked tirelessly for the last five years to secure funding for a National Targeted Lung Cancer Screening Program. Last week, the Federal Government made a commitment to fund the $246 million Program over the next four years. The Program is estimated to save up to 12,000 lives over the next ten years. 

Sadly, our Mum lost her battle with lung cancer five short weeks before this announcement was made. She would have been so thrilled to know that finally the voices of those living with lung cancer were being heard.
