Shine a Light Walk Brisbane 2026

I will walk with my lantern because...

On 7 November, I’ll be shining a light on lung cancer with my purple lantern. 💜

Did you know lung cancer is Australia’s biggest cancer killer?

Sadly, 42.2% of lung cancer cases are diagnosed at Stage IV, where the 5-year relative survival rate is just 3.2%. Compare that to 67.7% when diagnosed at Stage I.

By raising money, we can support research that offers hope. Your support helps keep that hope alive for the 15,122 Australians diagnosed with lung cancer each year.

This cause is deeply personal to me.

Ian was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer, and from diagnosis to his passing was roughly one year. He taught me countless things — including how to improve my surfing — but most importantly, he taught me to make the most of every day and to always be grateful for my health.

I’ll also be walking in memory of my Aunty Julie, who sadly passed away in 2022.

On 7 November, I’ll be walking for Ian, for Aunty Julie, for everyone affected by lung cancer, and for a future where more people have more time.

💜 If you’re able to donate, every contribution helps support research and gives hope a chance.
