I'm fundraising for...
Hi,
I’m having a living wake combined with my birthday this year, and instead of presents I’ve chosen to ask for donations to the Lung Foundation Australia. My reason is deeply personal. My beautiful daughter passed away on 16 July 2024. COVID took her, but she had already fought so many battles - emphysema, Crohn’s, bowel cancer, and she was waiting for a double lung transplant. My girl died in my arms, surrounded by her family. I heard her first breath when she came into this world, and I heard her last as she left it. If asking for donations can help even one family avoid the pain we’ve been through, then it’s worth everything to me.
Above is a lovely photo of my daughter and me. She now has her wings, and one day — not too far in the future — I will have mine too.
I’m living with COPD and other complications. I don’t regret the many cigarettes I smoked over the years, but I do regret ever starting. Please don’t start. The ending is not pleasant, no matter how smart or suave you think you are. You’re not invincible — you’re only shortening your life in a very cruel way.
Anyone can get lung disease. It affects 1 in 3 Australians and is the second leading cause of death. Lung Foundation Australia is the only charity in Australia providing support and a voice for people with lung disease, their families, carers, health professionals and the general community.
Please support me in raising funds to support patients and families impacted by lung diseases.
Thank you.
Frances
