Lung cancer is Australia’s most common cause of all cancer-related deaths. I thought my mum was going to be one of those deaths. 
Research within the lung cancer field is very limited and unexplored, however raising money for this research can offer support to keep alive the 15,122 Australians living with lung cancer. There is also a stigma attached to lung cancer that the person brought it upon themselves by smoking, however 20% of lung cancer patients have never smoked in their life, including my mum.
The position that I was in, where a loved one is diagnosed with cancer and there's a slim chance of survival, is not something that I want anyone to experience, but sometimes it is inevitable. However, the most important part is turning that slim chance of survival into a higher chance of survival. This can be done through fundraising money towards research. I highly encourage people to fundraise for lung cancer as it has affected many patients and families and it can make such a massive difference, no matter how small the donation even if it's $5. 
There is still a 50% chance that the cancer could recur in the next 2 years, and I want to fund all the research available to help my mum.
