Every year, the Shine a Light campaign raises funds to brighten the future for Australians living with lung cancer. With your support, Lung Foundation Australia provides seed funding for the best and brightest researchers to undertake projects that support discoveries towards the prevention, management and cure of lung cancer. Scientific breakthroughs can take years to accomplish but every dollar makes a difference to the lives of people impacted by lung cancer. Alongside research, practical support is just as critical, so we empower people living with lung cancer to make informed choices about treatment and management, through Lung Foundation Australia's Lung Cancer Support Nurse service.

Monday 20th OctI want to raise money to help support the Lung Foundation & Lung Cancer Research.
When my Nan was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in December 2024, we were told it was the "best type" of Lung Cancer and "easily treated". In February 2025, she had surgery. Her lymph nodes were clear and we were told she was "cancer free." But by May, a biopsy confirmed it had metastasized to her spine and by June, it was also in her hip.
In such a short time, she went from "Cancer Free" to being in Palliative Care with fractures in her spine and hip. We were told it was unprecedented and that it doesn't normally spread the way that it had.
She passed away in September.
I hope that raising awareness and funds for this foundation, helps bring clearer information to families.
