About Shine a Light

The community walks aim to raise awareness, break stigma, and provide a place of support & to remember and honour your loved ones who have been impacted by lung cancer. Join us on a community led walk to support the 15,122 Australians diagnosed every year. A lantern ceremony will be held, where you will be welcomed to share, listen & to take a moment to reflect with the lung cancer community. Register and show us how you are supporting Shine a Light on lung cancer, with one our our three lanterns.

This year, more than 15,000 Australian families will be impacted by lung cancer — our nation’s biggest cancer killer. Yet funding remains critically low. For 15 years, Shine a Light on Lung Cancer has raised vital funds for ground-breaking research and practical support.

About Shine a Light Largs Bay

Join us for our Shine a Light Walk in Adelaide.

Location: Park next to Largs Bay Kiosk

A short walk along the Largs Bay foreshore towards Semaphore and back.

We encourage everyone to stay informed and follow current health advice regarding algal blooms. If you have any concerns about water quality or potential exposure, please refer to the official guidance provided by the South Australian Government:

Key advice includes:

  • Avoid direct contact with water that appears discoloured, has a surface scum, or an unusual odour.

  • Keep pets and children away from affected areas.

  • Do not drink untreated water from rivers, lakes, or creeks.

  • If you experience skin irritation, nausea, or other symptoms after contact, rinse with clean water and seek medical attention.
