Our Story
Friday 15th MarWe bring to you Yiayia’s Glyka, Inspired by our beautiful Yiayia.
Born in Sparta and raised with the aromatic flavours of Smyrna, crafting dishes coming from a rich heritage. Yiayia’s hands were adept at shaping delicate pastries and kneading dough for baklava and Galaktoboureko each layer infused with memories of family gatherings and laughter around the table.
As Yiayia grew older she welcomed her children and grandchildren into her kitchen teaching the intricate dance of Greek cooking passing down recipes that had been safeguarded for generations.
Despite Yiayia’s battles with lung disease Yiayia remained a fighter, even in her final days.
Yiayia gave her final gift to us: the legacy of her recipes, to be shared with the world. Through Yiayia’s Glyka, we not only share the flavours of Greece but also strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others facing similar challenges. In her honour, we carry on her tradition, ensuring her memory lives on in every bite of her cherished creations.
In her honour, and as a tribute to her memory, we are proud to support the Lung Foundation Australia. Our Yiayia’s journey with lung disease deeply impacted our family, highlighting the importance of raising awareness and supporting those affected by respiratory illnesses. By partnering with the Lung Foundation Australia, we aim to honour Yiayia's legacy by contributing to vital research, advocacy, and support services for individuals and families impacted by lung disease.
