Kathleen’s First Birthday Among the Stars

In loving memory of our beautiful, one-of-a-kind Kathleen Margaret Easson (17.02.1957 - 08.05.2025), on what would have been her 69th birthday. 

The 17th of February marks Kathleen's first birthday among the stars. We hold her memory close. An incredibly special person who filled our lives with so much love, light, humour, wisdom and endless compassion.

Kathleen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She was our steady constant, the calm in the chaos, our safe place to land, the voice of reason when we needed it most. Even now, we feel her with us. In the emus wandering quietly by, in the pink and grey of a passing galah, little reminders that mum's love doesn’t simply disappear. She is here, there, and everywhere.

Kathleen was a devoted nurse and midwife who cared for people at some of the most vulnerable and profound moments of their lives. She was deeply intelligent, endlessly curious, and always learning. She believed in education and in doing things properly. Mum loved her garden and all things whimsy, found joy in writing short stories, and was a formidable mahjong player who rarely missed a winning move!

Mum was a proud non-smoker. Lung cancer does not discriminate. Anyone with lungs can be at risk.

We miss and love you, mumma. Now and forever. As long as we're living, our mummy you'll be.
